The Travel Bug

According to Trip Advisor I have visited 108 cities in 35 countries, travelled 183170 miles and still covered just 19% of the world! That should explain it all – the glass is not 19% full; it is 81% empty! And, I am thirsty – Very thirsty! The only problem is that its taken 50% of my life to travel just 19% of mother earth. Now, considering that I have only 40 more years left, statistically it looks like I have to pack in a LOT in the next few years!
Saying why I love to travel would be plain dumb – everyone (well almost everyone) loves it! And even if I am not the type to quit my job to conquer the seven seas till I hit Treasure Island, I still am one of those who ‘Live to Travel’ (and hello, why would I quit a job that pays me to travel?). I am that person who has the next 3 vacations lined up but is already thinking about the 4th one, as I drive to the airport  for my next break!
I never get tired of it – jumping from airport to airport, living out of a suitcase, looking up flights, chatting with cab drivers. The travel bug bit me when I was just 5 – I mean 5 days old – no kidding! Trains, planes, cars, buses, bicycles, ships – done a lot… but the glass is 81% empty, remember?
My biggest travel inspiration is people - the locals and ‘that guy's story!' But my travel bucket-list is not just influenced by destinations, iconic locations, wonders of the world. I count on – where I am staying, who I am going with, which seat on the plane I am going to get, how much excess baggage the airline will allow me and… which race I am running!
I also aspire for new experiences, new learnings. So far I have learnt how to polish shoes, how to ride a motorboat, how to get stalked by Italians, how to get sick on the way to Everest Base Camp, how to break my neighbours reading glasses, how to stomach Kangaroo meat etc. to name a few. Though my specialisation is flying experiences – I am blessed with adventures on planes! Sometimes they are so surreal that I miss the plane altogether - luckily I am not a pilot!
Maybe I could say that I travel with few expectations. But that would be a lie! There was a time though, when I could do anything, sleep anywhere and eat anything. Now I am SPOILT, completely corrupt to the luxuries of life and I am not complaining!
