About the banterer

Mother of two girls, amateur athlete aspiring to run 42.2kms now that I am 42, part-time writer, second born fauji kid, management school drop- out, traveler, entrepreneur and erstwhile employee of the world’s largest escorted touring company, founder of India's first outbound adventure travel firm www.activeholidaycompany.com  – like many of us on this planet – I am a little bit of many things and still not satisfied!
Those are words of wisdom that you can churn out after you are…. 40! Afterall that is when you are young enough to be adventurous (thank God 40 is the new 25) and old enough to be experienced; young enough to try but old enough to not mind if you don’t succeed; young enough to cry and old enough to not be bothered if someone is looking - in other words Wise Enough to be Foolish. That incidentally is the title of my book. See, I like to write so much that I managed to get a whole book together and yes, it's published – in print, I mean!
But it is not just to promote my book and coax the world to buy it that I have started this blog, though you should pick a copy  because me thinks it’s a great story (why else would I write it, huh?).
The real reason behind this blog is that I am that long distance runner with a B+ blood type but an A+ personality. I run, therefore I think. And I love travel. Thus, I have so much mental, physical and emotional excess baggage that I need therapy all the time – and nothing’s quite as good as writing. Plus, it’s free! Anyway, people around me now are tired of listening to my gyaan and in the absence of a real audience I have now decided to write for a virtual one!
Apart from running, travelling and writing, I love to live the good life (minus the Jimmy Choo shoes I stress). I don’t like anything on four wheels – unless it has wings attached to it. I love scandal, enjoy showing-off and I attract an unreal amount of drama in real life. But it suits me fine as it gives me more  to think of, to laugh at and of course to write about!

Active-holiday advocate Gauri Jayaram debuts with a semi-fictional semi-autobiographical, Wise Enough to Be Foolish

I felt I had a story to tell and I shared that story,” says Gauri Jayaram, at the release of her debut novel, Wise Enough To Be Foolish — a memoir of sorts that captures a young woman’s journey, growth, and evolution. “It is partly autobiographical but there is an element of fiction to it — mostly to make it palatable for public consumption. Names have been changed, a few incidents have been fictionalised, many people who are my friends are squeezed into a single character, but this is to a large extent based on my life. I am driven by real life people and situations and have always found fact more interesting than fiction.”
